is the most common cholesterol-lowering drug used to treat patients with elevated cholesterol and a high level of triglycerides. Lipitor, a brand-name drug sold under the brand name Crestor, is a widely used drug for lowering LDL cholesterol and triglycerides, as well as reducing the risk of heart attack and stroke in the long run. While the drug may help lower LDL cholesterol and triglycerides, it is not without risks and side effects. Patients who use Crestor should be monitored for any signs of a cardiovascular event or risk factors such as high blood pressure, heart disease, or low levels of white blood cells. The FDA has updated the labeling on Crestor to warn patients and doctors of the serious side effects of the drug. Some doctors have found the risk of serious cardiovascular events increases with higher doses, while others are less likely to be detected. However, Crestor and other cholesterol-lowering drugs are not FDA-approved for this purpose and are not covered by insurance.
Patients should be instructed to start taking the drug at a low dose and gradually increase the dose over time. Patients should also be instructed to take the medication at regular intervals to prevent potential cardiovascular events. The FDA has approved the use of statins (fibrates) in patients with high cholesterol for treatment of high-risk conditions.
To reduce the risk of cardiovascular events, patients should be instructed to lower their doses slowly to prevent possible side effects or dose-limiting drug reactions. Patients taking medications that have been associated with a decrease in LDL cholesterol should also be closely monitored for signs of a heart attack or stroke.
The FDA has approved a generic version of Crestor (rosuvastatin calcium). The generic version is known by the brand name Crestor. Rosuvastatin calcium is a brand-name drug manufactured by Merck under the brand name Schering-Plough by Abbott. It is the generic version of the drug rosuvastatin calcium. Rosuvastatin calcium is the generic form of Crestor.
The side effects of Crestor include:
It is important to follow the directions on the label and to be aware of the possible side effects.
If side effects do occur, they can be serious and require immediate medical attention. Patients should be advised to discontinue taking the drug immediately and contact their doctor if they experience any adverse effects.
To reduce the risk of side effects, patients should be instructed to lower their doses slowly and gradually over time to prevent possible side effects or side effects from the drug. Patients should also be instructed to reduce the dosage over time to prevent the risk of side effects.
Patients who are allergic to rosuvastatin calcium or any of the other ingredients in Crestor should not take the medication.
